Online Acting Classes for Kids
Now enrolling. Spots available starting for October
Our online classes are designed to be a place of encouragement, support, and community for young artists. We have created tons of exciting, fun, and creative exercises that really engage with students on the digital platform.
We have students from all over the country (and world!) taking these online acting classes. It has been a phenomenal way for young artists to collaborate with others from a wide variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
Courses offered on Saturdays and Sundays.
Learn how to make a scene/monologue come to life with vivid, compelling, personal choices. In this course, our young actors will be assigned scenes and monologues toward a virtual presentation! Our teachers provide constructive feedback and direction so that students can confidently make unique discoveries in the scripts they are given. In doing so, our young artists will give a unique, distinctive performance that will make them stand out!
Improvisation and sense memory come vibrantly to life on the camera using the same techniques we do in our live classes. The focus is on using the computer or phone as cameras and exploring how to film the most beautiful work possible using the microscopic beauty of the close up as well as the fun crazy improvisational work that help actors create and maintain their spontaneity. Students learn about objectives, sense memory, moment before, character prep and conflict.
Work one on one with one of the YAS instructors on getting some monologues, audition preparation, on-camera work, or just to continue developing your craft/technique.

What is your primary focus in the acting classes for kids? Our focus is on helping each young artist to discover their own distinctive voice, and have the confidence to fully express it. Through a series of acting exercises and scenes, we focus on building a student's sense of empathy, confidence, and creativity.
Are these classes more for professional child actors? Or those doing it for fun?We have an incredibly broad range of students at our studio ranging from serious working actors to young people just discovering this craft! We like to do interviews with all prospective students/parents so we can best assess how to serve them. Every young artist's journey is different, and we want to make sure the training is suited for what they need.
Do you produce shows at the studio? Or is it strictly technique/scene study? While we do shows occasionally at the studio, our focus is primarily on technique and applying this to scripts. We're really geared to developing a young actor's craft, and do not want the various demands of a production to interfere with that. That said, we have done productions with our more experienced students when we think it will help them further in their work.
How is your studio different than other acting schools for kids? Our community and culture. The amazing parents, young artists, and teachers who've been here for over twenty five years has fostered an incredibly artistic, supportive, and creative space. People constantly note the joyous, creative atmosphere of our studio and this is directly attributable to the amazingly supportive group of students and parents. We cultivate this atmosphere by being very attuned to each individual student and their unique needs/challenges, and how to integrate that within a larger group framework.
